Home to home

Here I am again, chilling at the airport in the middle of another continent spanning move. I left my temporary home in Arlington Friday after work and headed home-home to the midwest for a long weekend to surprise my mom for her birthday (Hi Mom!) The trip ended up being a great birthday gift for me too. There's just something nice about returning to my favorite childhood places as an adult. With all this moving around it's comforting to know there's a home back in the states for me too (even if I don't get to be there very often). I don't know if the place I'm building will ever really feel this homey.

We packed the weekend with visits to the grandparents, picking fruits and vegetables from the garden, and lots of relaxing. Of course everyone asked me to say something in Italian and I replied with my whole repertoire, from 'spaghetti' to 'gelato'. I figured they didn't actually want to hear me drone on about the potential ramifications of a Grexit - in Italian or not.

Now that I've visited home-home I'm ready to finally reach new home in Italy. I can't wait to get settled in and start making it feel like my own place. I do hate leaving but I'm ready for a new adventure too.

See you on the other side of the Atlantic!
